Actual and Use of German können Modalverben Video Lesson

ORIGIN: means ability.

For example, I can drive (meaning I have skills)
I think I can drive my father's car (meaning I got permission from my father).
Können is a modal used in terms of skill and ability.

For example:
ich kann schwimmen (ih kan svimen) I can swim.
kannst du schwimmen (kanst du svimen?) can you swim?
wir können machen (wia könen mahen) we can do it.

So it's a matter of talent.
