The Life of Salvador Dali

The Life of Salvador Dali

11 May 1904 was born in the Spanish city of Figureas Salvador Dali. He was actually the second child of the family, but his older brother died before he was born due to gastrointestinal inflammation. The name Salvador originally belonged to the first child, but after his painful loss, it was inherited by Salvador Dali, a painting genius.
This was not the only legacy Dali inherited from her older brother. The family had begun to experience difficult times after the death of their children. This situation caused them to try to keep his memory alive. This effort on Dali led to the famous painter's identity crisis at a very young age. In 1907, when Dali was three years old, her younger brother Ana Maria was born.
With his new brother, the pressure on Dali completely disappeared. He began to be held in the hands of his family members and, therefore, to behave extremely spoiled. He was an ambitious boy and so self-indulgent, Dali. But his genius was indisputable. His young age did not prevent him from painting. He was also fully supported by his mother.
He opened his first exhibition in 1919, when he was only 15 years old, in a municipal theater. His mother also played a very important role in this happening. Unfortunately, she lost her mother one February time, exactly two years after the exhibition took place. After this great loss that shook him deeply, he went to Madrid in the autumn of the same year.
The purpose of going here was to study at the San Fernando Academy of Fine Arts, which he accepted. After two years there, he was suspended for a number of reasons. He was kicked out of school soon after he returned.
His first solo show took place in 1925. The exhibition was held in a gallery called Dallmau in Barcelona. A year later he went to Paris where he met Pablo Picasso. This meeting had a profound effect on him. Picasso was highly respected.
He shot his first short surrealist film An Andalusian Dog in 1929 with Luis Bunuel. This film attracted the attention of the important circles and aroused a great impact.
